William Yong founded Zata Omm in 2005 to create new experiences in dance under his artistic direction. In 2010, Zata Omm launched a three-year programme of multiple dance and new technology collaborative research projects supported by the George Cedric Metcalf Foundation. Yong’s recent choreographies include Frames, a Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee for Outstanding New Choreography (2009), several commissions and a position as as artist in residence at Truce for the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre.

Born in Hong Kong, his numerous production credits include Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance and Matthew Bourne’s Adventures in Motion Pictures (UK); and Canadian companies such as Toronto Dance Theatre, CORPUS, The Chimera Project, Theatre Rusticle and Fila 13.
