Iris Lichtinger‎ and Stefan Blum

Sandeep Bhagwati’s piece, Nirgun Bhajan will be performed in the concert Aenigma et Stupor by vocalist Iris Lichtinger and percussionist Stefan Blum. These musicians will be interpreting works of both the past and present. The arc of the concert program spans nearly 1000 years – with fascinating works by Hildegard von Bingen, to modern composers such as Bhagwati.

Conference TENOR 2017 – Technologies of Notation and Representation

matralab director Sandeep Baghwati will be attending Conference TENOR 2017 at University of La Coruna in Spain. During the conference, Bhagwati’s will be discussing his latest paper titled, Vexations of Ephemerality. Extreme Sight-Reading in Situative Scores – for Makers, Performers, Audiences.

Bhagwati will be hosting this conference in Montréal in 2018.


Performance of Sutra

For the 14th edition of the A•Devantgarde Festival 2017 in Munich, Sandeep Bhagwati’s composition, Sutra will be performed by the NAMES Ensemble Salzburg. The performance will take place May 25th at 8:00pm.

Study Day on intercultural music: Bali-Quebec and Beyond

matralab director Sandeep Bhagwati will be participating in a panel discussion on the topic of intercultural music in Quebec. matralab affiliates Gabriel DharmooSameer DublayGeorgina Born and Jonathan Goldman will also be partaking in this event. Bhagwati and Dublay will be discussing  ‘Intertraditional comprovisation’ with the Sangeet Prayog ensemble project, Dhvani Sutras.
