Sandeep’s teacher Wilhelm Killmayer died this August, one day before his 90th birthday. Arraymusic had been planning a birthday concert of his music, now it will be a memorial concert.
A spontaneous piece Sandeep wrote the day he learnt of his death will open the concert of Killmayer chamber music. The concert will conclude with half an hour of Sandeep’s newest music for piano, selections from his 2hour long cycle in progress “Music of Crossings” that he has been writing since 2015, played by Stephen Clarke.
Before the concert, he will discuss Killmayer’s and his own work with composer Martin Arnold and Killmayer’s widow, Martina Killmayer, who will come to Canada expressly for this occasion.
