“17 Miyagi Haikus” Canadian Premiere @ Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur

The festival Montréal Nouvelles Musiques presents the Canadian premiere of Sandeep Bhagwati’s “17 Miyagi Haikus.”
On March 11, 2011, a triple tragedy hit Japan: an earthquake, a tsunami and, as a consequence of both, a nuclear meltdown at Fukushima. In response to the disasters, Sandeep Bhagwati composed a corpus of musical miniatures based on the form of haiku poetry, entitled “Miyagi Haikus.”
The New York-based trio of Peter Evans (trumpet), Dave Taylor (trombone) and Felix del Tredici (bass trombone) present the first complete performance of all 17 Miyagi Haikus in this unique concert. Navid Navab will install “Decay”, an interactive landscape to be played by the musicians.
Tickets are regularly priced at $15, and $10 at the reduced rate. To purchase tickets online, click here.
